Craig Dengate
Craig is the Principal Lawyer who leads My Migration Lawyers' most complex and high-stakes matters. He handles visa cancellations, deportation and detention, judicial review and Federal Court appeals, and Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) matters, alongside complex partner and protection visa cases, corporate migration, and s501 character matters.
Before joining private practice, Craig worked inside the Administrative Appeals Tribunal as a Senior Associate, giving him valuable insight into Tribunal processes, case management and decision-making. This experience allows him to anticipate how decision-makers approach cases and craft submissions that address the critical issues.
Craig is a leader in the field as recognised by his previous CPD presentations for migration agents and lawyers on skilled visas and Tribunal appeals, and his contribution to assessment and examination materials used across the migration profession.

Our Lawyers Are Experts in These Areas
Visa Refusal
If your visa application was refused, you may have a right to seek review. We assess the refusal decision, identify the grounds available to you, and prepare a considered response. We will tell you clearly how strong your matter is.
Visa Cancellation
A cancelled visa can affect your right to remain in Australia, and deadlines are strict. We act quickly to assess the cancellation, explain your review rights, and prepare the strongest case the facts allow.
ART Review
The Administrative Review Tribunal can review many refusal and cancellation decisions. We prepare your application, assemble the evidence, and represent you through to the tribunal hearing.
Judicial Review and Court Appeals
Where a tribunal or department decision involves a legal error, it may be challenged in the Federal Circuit and Family Court or the Federal Court. We assess whether a reviewable error exists and act for you in court.
Appeal Deadlines Are Short and Fixed
Refusal and cancellation decisions carry strict statutory time limits. The sooner you get advice, the more options stay open to you.

Refusals and Appeals, Answered Straight
The questions people ask most before speaking with us.
+ Refusal and cancellation decisions carry strict statutory time limits, and they run from the date of the decision. Different decisions carry different deadlines, and some are very short. The safest step is to get advice as soon as you receive the decision so a pathway is not lost.
+ Not every decision carries a review right, and the pathway depends on the type of decision and your circumstances. At your consultation a migration lawyer will assess your decision and tell you clearly what review options, if any, are open to you.
